A Collaborative Event by SVC-CAMFT and AAMFT-SNG
An Overview of Evidenced-Based Assessment and Treatment of Child and Adult ADHD
This presentation will review current research on the nature and course of ADHD in children and adults. The presenters will discuss evidenced-based tools for identifying and evaluating the presence and severity of ADHD, various treatment modalities and their associated efficacy as well current limitations in the clinical care for ADHD. The speakers will also integrate how their research work on the cognitive, developmental, emotional and physiological functioning of ADHD affects everyday functioning and long-term outcomes at home, school and on the job. The presenters also will suggest ways for working with parents and teachers in coping with ADHD and associated impairments.
Julie Schweitzer, Ph.D., Director, ADHD Program, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, U.C. Davis MIND Institute; Licensed Psychologist; author of numerous journal articles and publications; ABC News media expert for 6 years regarding ADHD research; research featured on national and international CNN and CNN radio, and in major publications such as, Scientific America, Clinical Psychiatry Review, Los Angeles Times; research selected by the Society for Neurosciences for press release for 7 years, as well as numerous other national and international television reports and newspaper articles on an ongoing basis, will present with J. Faye Dixon, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, U.C. Davis MIND Institute; Licensed Psychologist; author; and teacher and parent ADHD behavior management trainer.
